Liz Carroll es una violinista estadounidense con orígenes irlandeses.
En 1974 participó en el concurso All-Ireland de violín el cuál ganó con 18 años. Al año siguiente ganaría el All-Ireland Senior.

Liz Carrol realizó su primera grabación en 1978, resultado de una colaboración con el acordeonista Tommy MaGuire. El trabajo se llamó "Kiss Me Kate". Grabaría su primer disco en solitario en el año 1979 titulado "A Friend Indeed" acompañada por Marty Fahey al piano. El siguiente no llegaría hasta el año 1988. En 1992 Carroll se unió a Billy McComiskey y Sproule Dáithí para formar el grupo Trian. El grupo grabó dos álbumes.
Liz Carrol recibió el galardón "Heritage Fellowship Award" en 1994.
Grabaría un tercer álbum en solitario titulado Lost In The Loopen el año 2000. Recibió el premio a la mejor grabación de Música Celta de las Islas Británicas. En 2002, Liz grabó otro disco en solitario titulado "Lake Effect", y más recientemente, "In Play" y "Double Play", con el ex-guitarrista de "Solas", John Doyle.

En 2005, Liz grabó un álbum en vivo y un DVD con el grupo String Sisters titulado "Live", publicado en 2007.

Sus trabajos más recientes se encuentran bajo la distribución de los sellos Green Linnet y Compass Records.

Últimamente realiza conciertos y clinics en solitario o acompañada por John Doyle.
